On May 7, 2023, Alexander Star and his band, The Golden People, had the pleasure of opening for 2x Grammy nominated artists, Black Violin. The Dreamer's Arts festival is an event held by the Black Violin Foundation. This community based, family friendly event aims to promote access of classical arts to black and brown communities.
DREAMERS ARTS FESTIVAL
This festival also included performances by Sons of MyStro as well as student orchestras from North Andrews Gardens Elementary School, Bethune Elementary and Dillard High School. Food trucks, bounce houses and even an 'instrument petting zoo' made this festival a valuable experience for all ages
THE GOLDEN PEOPLE
Alexander Star brought out his full band - The Golden People - consisting of Lem on bass, Jordan on guitar, BX on keys, Kronik on drums, Brechai & Santee on backup vocals, and Star on lead vocals. Star's band began their set showcasing the band's versatility by giving the audience a different perspective of the way music can be played and heard.
Performing songs like Damian Marley's "Welcome to Jamrock" and transitioning to Star's "Fell on my Feet" and even Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" transitioning into Eminem's "Lose Yourself" illustrated how songs that sound completely different can be combined.
Star also performed some of his own original music such as "That's What I Do Best," "Same Skies," "Sticky Situation," and "Better Than Ever." From the drum stabs to the guitar riffs, each song was carefully crafted by Star and The Golden People. Their great attention to detail keeps the crowd engaged while their energy & chemistry is evident throughout the entire set. The Dreamer's Arts festival was a great opportunity for Alexander Star and The Golden People to show their South Florida audience what they do best!
